What is it:
The Vancouver Nordic Ski City Championships Race is a fundraising event for the UBC Nordic Ski Team.
Registration:
Racers can register at any Different Bikes location for a discounted price. Online registration is available here and race day registration will be in the warming hut from 8:30 am to 9:30 am. Fees for online and race day registrations will be collected at bib pickup. Fees are:
Register at Different Bikes: $10
Register Online: $15
Race Day: $20
Racers under 12 are free!
All racers are encouraged to make a small donation to the UBC Nordic Ski Team.
Bib Pickup:
Bib and packet pickup will be available prior to the course preview on March 7th from 6pm to 7pm at the warming hut. Race day bib and packet pickup will be in the warming hut from 8:30am to 9:30am. To be given a number, racers must show their season pass or day ticket for race day.
Course Preview Night:
Unfamiliar with the race course or the Cypress Mountain Nordic area? Please join skiers from the UBC Nordic Ski Team on March 7th at 7pm for a easy ski around the race course loop!
Race Rules:
All racers must sign a Cypress Mountain Waiver and agree to abide by the Skier Code of Conduct.
Non-racing skiers may be encountered on course and should always be given right of way.
When overtaking another skier, the faster skier should call track and pass the slower skier when space is available. When hearing track called, the slower skier should move to the right side of the trail and allow the faster skier to pass as soon as possible in a safe manner.
All skiers must have a valid season pass or day ticket to enter the race. Tickets will be checked at bib pickup.
Course:
The City Championship Course will feature two laps of an 8 km loop for a 16km total race. Racers will compete in the freestyle technique from a mass start. Course maps are available HERE. Course will be marked with flags and corners signed with arrows.
Different Bikes Recreational Division Course will feature one 8km lap.
